From Stone Waste to Bespoke Terrazzo

We’re always interested to see how our compact crushers are being used in different industries. Our collaboration with London terrazzo specialist Diespeker is a great example of how our CR300 Micro Crusher is helping give unwanted stone a new purpose.

When you think of a crusher, high-end interior design might not be the first application that comes to mind. But at Dragon Equipment, we’re seeing how our compact crushing technology can support much more than traditional construction, demolition and recycling.

Our CR300 Crusher is being used by Diespeker to process stone, including marble and granite, into chips that can be incorporated into bespoke terrazzo designs. It’s an exciting application that brings together British engineering, traditional craftsmanship and a more resource-conscious approach to material use.

Giving unwanted stone a new purpose

Established in 1881, Diespeker has more than 140 years of experience working with terrazzo, marble and natural stone. The company specialises in creating architectural surfaces for applications including flooring, tiles, worktops, wall cladding and staircases.

As more clients look to reuse stone recovered from refurbishments and rebuilding projects, Diespeker is exploring new ways to incorporate these materials into its terrazzo production.

By using our CR300 to crush unwanted stone into different sizes, Diespeker can recover material that might otherwise be discarded and turn it into an ingredient for new bespoke surfaces.

We think this is a great example of the circular economy in practice. Rather than treating stone offcuts as waste, the material can be processed and given a new life as part of a premium finished product.

It also demonstrates how recycling can become part of the design process itself, helping retain the character and value of existing materials.

Why our CR300 Micro Crusher is suited to the job

At just 700mm wide, our CR300 is designed to deliver crushing capability in a compact footprint. This makes it particularly useful in environments where space is at a premium, including Diespeker’s London operation.

The CR300's adjustable crushing settings allow different stone sizes to be produced, giving Diespeker the flexibility needed to meet the requirements of individual terrazzo designs.

Although our crushers are traditionally associated with construction, demolition and recycling, we’re always pleased to see our machines being put to work in new and unexpected ways.

In this case, our compact crusher is helping support a specialist manufacturing process, demonstrating how practical engineering can contribute to high-end interior design.

As a British manufacturer, we’re also proud that our machines are designed and built in Great Britain. Working with another British company that shares a strong sense of heritage makes this collaboration particularly rewarding.

Bringing British engineering and craftsmanship together

For us, this project demonstrates the versatility of compact crushing technology and the opportunities that can emerge when different industries work together.

Jeff Haines, Managing Director of Dragon Equipment, said:

“We’re used to seeing our crushers working in construction, demolition and recycling environments, so seeing the CR300 being used as part of Diespeker’s terrazzo production is a particularly exciting application for us. It demonstrates that compact crushing can play a role in high-end design, not just construction.”

For Diespeker, the investment in our CR300 reflects growing demand from clients who want to reuse stone from existing buildings and refurbishment projects.

John Kraus, Managing Director of Diespeker, explained:

“We were keen to upgrade our existing capacity for crushing, as more and more clients have been talking to us about reusing stone from refurbishments and rebuilds. We currently have two major commercial projects in progress for top tier clients requiring this approach, so the CR300 is already proving an invaluable addition to the factory.

“Of equal importance to us was to collaborate with another British company. We’re proud of our heritage and we’re delighted to have a British ‘dragon’ on our side!”

Supporting a more resource-conscious approach

At Dragon Equipment, we believe machinery should offer practical solutions to real-world challenges. While compact crushers have an important role to play in construction and demolition waste recycling, this project highlights their potential in other areas of material recovery and manufacturing.

By helping Diespeker process unwanted stone for use in new terrazzo designs, our CR300 is supporting an approach that keeps valuable materials in use for longer.

From stone offcuts to crushed stone chips, and from recovered material to a finished architectural surface, the process shows how engineering and craftsmanship can work together to create something new.

We’re proud to see our CR300 Crusher helping Diespeker explore these possibilities, and we look forward to seeing how compact crushing technology continues to find new applications across different industries.
