CR550 Hybrid Crusher Launches at PlantWorx 2025
We’re incredibly excited to officially launch our brand-new CR550 Hybrid Crusher at the PlantWorx Construction Show on 23 September 2025.
At Dragon Equipment, we’ve always believed that crushers shouldn’t have to be bulky to deliver real power. Since 2019, our mission has been to design compact, transportable, and genuinely powerful machines for the construction, demolition and recycling industries. From our early CR300 Crusher right through to the CR400 Crusher and CR450 Diesel Crusher, each step has been about innovation. The CR550 Hybrid Crusher is the next leap forward.
Why the CR550?
One of the biggest challenges we hear from operators and hire shops is transportability. Getting machines from site to site without requiring special licences or heavy-duty transport is essential. That’s why the CR550 Hybrid Crusher is just under 2,800kg and 1,300mm wide - so it can be towed on a standard trailer with a regular UK driving licence.
But compact design is only half the story. We wanted to deliver exceptional crushing power while staying fully compliant with today’s stringent emissions standards. That’s where our diesel-hybrid powertrain comes in.
The Hybrid Advantage
The CR550 Hybrid Crusher combines a 19kW diesel engine with a 10kW e-machine. The e-machine gives an instant boost during peak loads and then recharges the onboard battery when demand is lighter. This system lets the CR550 perform well beyond what you’d expect from its engine size — while keeping fuel use, costs, and emissions low.
We first tested this hybrid system on our CR300 Hybrid prototype, and the results were so promising that we knew we had to scale it up. The CR550 is the pinnacle of that development.
Operator-Focused Design
We’ve built the CR550 Hybrid Crusher with operators in mind. Features include:
Hydraulically adjustable jaws (3mm–75mm) for quick changes on the job
Jaw stroke direction control, so you can optimise performance depending on material type
‘No-stress’ and ‘anti-stall’ technology, ensuring smooth operation and minimal downtime
Remote control operation so you can safely position, track, and run the machine from your excavator cab
And because we know productivity is everything, the CR550 Crusher’s 33L fuel tank delivers over eight hours of continuous crushing. Maintenance is also simple, with a hinged bonnet, central greasing point, and accessible fuel tank.
Made in Suffolk
We’re proud that all Dragon Equipment machines are designed and built in Suffolk, England. Around 80–85% of the CR550’s components are sourced within 50 miles of our factory, helping us reduce emissions and support our local economy.
Power without the BULK
The CR550 Hybrid Crusher embodies everything we stand for: power, efficiency, transportability, and sustainability — all without the bulk.
We’re excited to showcase the CR550 Hybrid Crusher at this week’s PlantWorx 2025. If you’re attending, make sure to stop by stand DB 01-02 and see the future of compact crushing.
